BBQ Contest
Contest Categories
- Chicken
- Includes Cornish Game Hen and Kosher Chicken.
- Pork Ribs
- Ribs shall include the bone. Country style ribs are prohibited.
- Pork
- Pork is defined as Boston Butt, Picnic and/or Whole Shoulder, weighing
a minimum of five (5) pounds. Pork shall be cooked (bone in or bone
out) and shall not be parted.
- Beef Brisket
- May be whole brisket, flat, or point. Corned beef is not allowed.
- Anything But
- Contestants must be entered in the Great Arkansas Smokeout. Find
out here, who can create the healthiest "anything but" item on the
grill. We want to see how tasty you can make something healthy. Details
on this category will follow soon. Check back for details. The number
of entrants in the contest will determine prize money. 1st place will
receive of 30% of the entry fees, 2nd place 20%, 3rd place 10%.
- People's Choice
- Only contestants allowing tasting plates to the general public will
be allowed to enter in this competition. The winner will receive a
$50 cash prize.
Prizes
The total prize payout will be $8,500, paying through fifth place in
each category! Prizes will be distributed in cash on the day of the cookout,
November 18, 2006. Cash prizes will be distributed as follows:
- Grand Champion wins $2,500
- Reserve Grand Champion wins $1,250
- 1st place wins $625
- 2nd place wins $300
- 3rd place wins $150
- 4th place wins $75
- 5th place wins $25
- People's Choice wins $50
In addition to the sizeable cash prizes, the Grand Champion and Reserve
Grand Champion will receive handsome trophies, and first through fifth
place will receive a certificate and ribbon.
KCBS Rules and Regulations
- The inaugural Stamp Out Smoking Great Arkansas Smokeout barbecue
contest is sanctioned by the Kansas City Barbeque Society and will
follow their rules and judges criteria. Prize money is $8,500 and pays
through five places.
